Spin Paramagnetism or an Electron Gas in a Lattice of Positive Charges

چکیده
Bellemans and De Leener) have studied the ground state energy of an electron gas moving in a lattice of positive charges. This picture is ex~ pected to correspond roughly to actual metals or metallic solutions. The purpose of this paper is to extend their treatment to a study of spin paramagnetism. The magnetic susceptibility of the system is determined by the change in energy as the electron spins are polarized. Let us denote the number of electrons with spin up and down by N+ and N_, and introduce a parameter p:

We give an overview of recent work on charge degrees of freedom of strongly correlated electrons on geometrically frustrated lattices. Special attention is paid to the checkerboard lattice, i.e., the two-dimensional version of a pyrochlore lattice and to the kagomé lattice. For the checkerboard lattice it is shown that at half filling when spin degrees of freedom are neglected and at quarter f...
متن کاملCoulomb gas approach to the anisotropic one-dimensional Kondo lattice model at arbitrary filling
We establish a mapping of a general spin-fermion system in one dimension into a classical generalized Coulomb gas. This mapping allows a renormalization-group treatment of the anisotropic Kondo chain both at and away from half-filling. We find that the phase diagram contains regions of paramagnetism, partial, and full ferromagnetic order. We also use the method to analyze the phases of the Isin...

Graphene has been actively investigated as an electronic material owing to many excellent physical properties, such as high charge mobility and quantum Hall effect, due to the characteristics of a linear band structure and an ideal two-dimensional electron system. However, the correlations between the transport characteristics and the spin states of charge carriers or atomic vacancies in graphe...
متن کاملMagnetic Properties and Phase Transitions in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Simple Cubic Lattice
Within the effective-field theory with correlations (EFT), a transverse random field spin-1 Ising model on the simple cubic (z=6) lattice is studied. The phase diagrams, the behavior of critical points, transverse magnetization, internal energy, magnetic specific heat are obtained numerically and discussed for different values of p the concentration of the random transverse field.

It is a common knowledge that the formation of electron pairs is a necessary ingredient of any theoretical work describing superconductivity. Thus, finding the mechanism of the formation of the electron pairs is of utmost importance. There are some experiments on high transition temperature superconductors which support the electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions as the pairing mechanism (ARPES),...
